 | 08/31/2007 -- munja hey
i'm 17 years old, female and had 4 weeks ago a spontaneous pneumothorax. i was 7 days in the hospital. my right lung had totally collapsed and i got a drainage for 4 days. that helped, i had to recover and could leave the hospital afterwards. now i am at home. i am not allowed to do sports til the end of september. sometimes i got a little pain at the back, and a few times a day it feels very weard when i breath in.
DOES ANYONE ELSE CAN TELL ME IF YOU ALSO FEEL THIS?
sorry for spelling mistakes, i'm swiss.
thanks for answers.
greetings from CH Post Reply |

 | 04/12/2007 -- Yuri I've had a SP 6 years ago...which was followed by a second one a month after discharge. I was 6'2 and weighed 140 lbs. so I guess I fit the profile perfectly. At the time I smoked, and doctors have advised me against smokng thence. Luckily, no reccurances...feeling good and breathing...I have been hesitant to fly, though, since i heard a few stories involving pressure in the cabins. Post Reply -- Yuri |

I am a scout leader and thus go camping and hiking a lot. Will this be affected? will i have to reduce this to reduce a re-occurance? does it really matter as most people have had spontanous re-occurances anyway and had to have the operation. I am interested in the long term implications and reducing the chances of re-occurances. Also how long afterwards am i likely to be feeling the gurgle and clicking of air when i bend over as its been 7 days and there is no improvement. Thanks in advance, Roland Post Reply -- roland weston |

 | 03/01/2007 -- LA As I type this my boyfriend is in ICU recovering from a collapsed lung (due to a fractured rib - horse riding accident). Visiting hours are over and of course I now have dozens of questions going through my head. Can someone please give me some information about the recovery from this type of injury??? How long is the recovery period? How soon would a person expect to be discharged from the hospital? Does the person constantly feel pain just breathing for a while? Just to give you more information...he was trampled by a horse when he fell off and was kicked in the head and chest. He has a concussion but the wound itself is not too severe (relatively speaking - it could have been much worse). In addition, he fractured several ribs and broke his collar bone. He doesn't look good. Broken bones I know all about but I have never known anyone with a collapsed lung and just don't know what to expect. Please help! Post Reply -- LA |

 | 02/09/2007 -- Paul If you've naturally healed from a small case of SP, in the future is it possible that your lungs can be prone to aggrevation? i.e twitches, pings here and there, tightness?
Just getting over a chesty cough and for the first time in months i can feel all the above symptons..?
Thanks
